I hired Jay Meyers to handle a case for me. He gave me assurances this was an easy case for him to handle and in the worst case scenario I still had another option, I did not need to worry. At the first court appearance he did not appear, his supposed partner did not appear but an attorney he got fro...m another attorney who knew nothing about this case which led to a default and allowed the plaintiff to immediately request to schedule a sale date to foreclose. I immediately ask Jay to return my retainer but he refused. He assured me this outcome could be a good thing and they he/they could file a better motion, I need not worry. It wasn’t until a week later that I finally spoke to another attorney that he just hired to handle the case. Over a month went by before a motion was finally filed and during that time a sale date was scheduled. This was my worst fear. The motion was denied by the judge. The other option of which I asked him about initially what the cost would be, he said he wasn’t worried because we would work it out. Yet now he requires a payment of over $20,000 before he would file or do anything else to protect me. He misrepresented me, was unprofessional and has put me in the worst position imaginable.
