While living in Tokyo recently, I wished to consult a Japanese attorney barred and based in New York City regarding immigration matters for my Japanese wife. I decided to call Mrs. Yamada Karim for a consultation. I must say that I was greatly disgusted as she immediately made very clear from the ons...et while speaking long distance from Tokyo that she would not speak about my proposed case unless I immediately deposited a retainer fee. Once this was done, and only then, would she agree to listen to all I had to say. I couldn't even whisper my wife's name, to show how adamant she remained on this episode. I was not expecting a free consultation nor wished to use her time to my advantage as I'm in the same field as her, but her demeanor unfortunately showed her regrettably as a money grubbing type of lawyer befitting the lower rank. Needless I immediately eschewed her and chose subsequently a Japanese lady lawyer in New York who was splendid and rendered yeoman service.
