Justine Isolde Borer
About Justine
Biography
A graduate of Harvard College and UCLA School of Law and a proud New Yorker, Ms. Borer enjoys the challenge of litigation, and views mediation and arbitration as desirable alternatives to litigation in many cases. In the context of divorce and family conflict, alternative dispute resolution can offer parties a unique opportunity to reach amicable results despite acrimony.
She has published numerous articles about mediation and family and matrimonial law. Her article Prenuptial Agreements: The Ultimate Symbol of Love? appeared in The Huffington Post on August 22, 2014, and a modified version appeared in the November 2014 New York County Lawyer.
Ms. Borer is an adjunct professor at the City University of New York, where she teaches family law, ethics, philosophy of law, and Stoicism.
She is a member of the New York Women's Bar Association and the New York City Bar Association. At the New York City Bar Association, she serves on the Estate & Gift Taxation Committee as an affiliate member.
Since 2013, Ms. Borer has assisted low-income parties with uncontested divorces and Family Court matters as a volunteer in the New York State Unified Court System's Access to Justice Program. For her work in that capacity, she received three Certificates of Distinguished Service.
In 2024, she was sworn in as an arbitrator in Small Claims Court, where she regularly serves.
