I have been working with Jim for several years. I first hired Jim to represent me in connection with my acquisition of a coffee plantation in southern Sudan. Jim’s knowledge of local culture and customs was an invaluable asset. He was always a big presence during our heated negotiations with the s...eller, and my team often referred to him has JP or Big Jim, as one other reviewer noted. Jim is the type of attorney that is willing to work all night to get the deal done; however, if there is one negative I could say about Jim, it is that often the only time he works is during the night, as his mornings are tied up with what he will only refer to as “conference calls.” However, his desire to work during the night was an asset during our deal, as Jim, although based in New York City, operated strictly on Sudanese time for a period of 4 months until the deal was closed. I would also like to mention that Jim’s team, specifically his lead associate Glen M. Orangie, was also top notch.

James, or "Big Jim" as he asked me to refer to him, is truly an outstanding corporate attorney who achieved the desired result in the merger of my import/export business with a bookseller specializing in African cultures and societal systems. He handles a difficult adversary who represented an even ...more difficult client who was hostile to the deal. The only negative comment I can make is that he was rarely available in the mornings, claiming his AM schedule was filled with conference calls every day. Being from California myself, it never presented a problem. But I could see how it could negatively impact his ability to represent a morning person from the East Coast.
