Richard Alan Leishman

Richard Leishman is an Associate at Norton Rose Fulbright in their ship finance practice group in New York. He primarily represents lenders, syndicate groups and borrowers in maritime and international finance transactions. His transactions include acting as lead counsel for a $760m syndicated facility for 18 LPG carriers and New York counsel for a $210m IPO for a crude oil transportation provider.

Richard graduated 1st in Tulane's LL.M. (Admiralty) program in May 2014 making him a recipient of the Edward A. Dodd Jr. Award. During his time at Tulane, he held a graduate fellowship in maritime law, was a member of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal and Admiralty Moot Court team, and was social chairperson of the Graduate Lawyers Student Committee.

Prior to Tulane, Richard acted as a foreign attorney for the Capital Post Conviction Project of Louisiana representing death-sentenced Louisiana clients in post-conviction proceedings. He was also previously employed at Piper Alderman, a Sydney private practice law firm, where he represented commercial clients, individuals, insurance companies and government owned corporations. The focus of his practice was maritime litigation and cross-border dispute resolution.
