Gary W. McArthur Mair

Gary W. Mair, Esq. is the Managing Partner at Alternative Fund, PLLC, a boutique law firm that offers a viable alternative to the big law firms and provides legal and business advice to private funds and their trading firms across various strategies and organizations. Gary has over 20 years of substantial alternative asset management, business, securities law, operations, securities regulations, product fund offering (private placement to IPO), asset manager C-suite business and legal expertise. Deep knowledge of the asset management business model as a former managing attorney at a cutting-edge New York City law firm (focus on internet start-ups to IPO practice), General Counsel and executive across a well- known international investment bank, a global alternative asset management firm, and the co-founder of a successful emerging hedge fund-private equity trading firm.

Combining private practice and in-house legal experience with operational experience, Gary is uniquely positioned to advise alternative asset managers (hedge or equity funds) over all aspects of their fund offering execution, operations and build out over their funds’ lifecycles. Gary has represented or worked as a trusted advisor for asset managers in a diverse range of asset classes and offering structures. He also collaborates with well-known private fund law firms, consulting firms, executives, teams, and people across the sector. Gary is an active member of the New York Bar Association and a former member of the Pace University Advisory Board. Gary holds a B.A. and Master’s Degree from Pace University and a J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law.
