I have been in practice for over 50 years, and remain in active practice although I have given up handling criminal matters because of the time and effort that they usually require and the activity, dedication and emotional input (not to mention legwork) that must be given for each case. I recent...ly had occasion to refer a matter to Mr. Yerman, calling him in the evening and getting his input and ideas concerning the matter. He immediately attended to the case, getting me all of the relevant information and the status of the proceeding (the client had recently been arrested and was in police custody)) within minutes, and advising me of his strategy to defend the matter. I should not have been charged with Disorderly Conduct and the police were acting maliciously. Mr. Yerman was prepared to defend me in every possible way to ensure the furtherance of justice while working with me to understand other immigration implications. Receiving this charge as a tourist in New York it was very overwhelming to defend myself against the charge. I originally found a good review on Mr. Yerman so I decided to give him a call along with some other lawyers. I came to learn that many lawyers are quick to advise ACD as the only outcome. Apparently this is because it is quick money for them and they ignore other options for your defense. An ACD is not a terrible thing and many times if a lawyer can arrange that for you it is a great option; however, a sincere lawyer will explore all options with confidence before advising you that an ACD is your only option. I trusted and relied on Mr. Yerman to represent me through Power of Attorney and he appeared in court on my behalf as I do not live in New York City. It was daunting to not be present in court but Mr. Yerman made the process very comfortable.
