Paul Neal Schlemmer

Paul N. Schlemmer is Board Certified in Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, which is a distinction held by less than 4% of the attorneys in the United States of America. Mr. Schlemmer is also Board Certified in Civil Pre-Trial Practice Advocacy by the National Board of Legal Specialty Certification.  Paul is a member of the National Trial Lawyers' Top 100 Trial Lawyers, an invitation-only, peer selected group of attorneys in the United States who have been recognized for achieving a standard of excellence.  Earlier in his career, Mr. Schlemmer was also selected to the National Trial Lawyers' Top 40 Under 40, and has been recognized by the "Super Lawyers" publication every year since 2010.

In 2005, Mr. Schlemmer became the first attorney in the United States of America to win a products liability verdict against the world's largest manufacturer of treadmills for injuries that were being sustained by infants who were becoming trapped in a defect at the rear of the treadmill.  Over 1000 of these infant injuries had been reported to the federal government's Consumer Products Safety Commission with the infants often suffering de-gloving injuries to their hands.  Shortly after the verdict, these defectively designed treadmills were removed from the marketplace.  

Paul Schlemmer has successfully litigated for his clients against some of the largest corporate interests in the world including all of the A.M. Best top 12 insurance companies in the United States, the top Medical Malpractice insurers in New York State, and the world's top 3 automaker Volkswagen Group.  

Paul N. Schlemmer graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1994 and obtained his Juris Doctor from the Valparaiso University School of Law in Valparaiso, Indiana in 1997.  While still in Law School, Mr. Schlemmer petitioned the Supreme Court of Indiana for permission to take the Bar Examination early - his petition was granted, and he passed the Bar Examination before  graduating from law school.  Upon graduation, Mr. Schlemmer then took the New York and New Jersey Bar Examinations simultaneously, passing both, and becoming licensed in all three jurisdictions.  

During the early years of his life, before becoming an attorney, Mr. Schlemmer held a variety of positions that provided him with an astoundingly wide background of experiences and skills that he still draws upon from time to time. Some of the more interesting positions have included working as: a Triple Lathe Operator in a factory making fiberglass tubing; a Roofer, a Landscaper, a Mover, a Whitewater Rescue Lifeguard on the World Cup Kayaking Circuit; a Swimming Instructor; an Installer of Swimming Pools; a Camp Counselor, a  Waterfront Director, a Sailing and Small Watercraft Boating Instructor, and a jazz saxophonist.

On a personal note, when he is not handling legal matters, Paul is a very active person who enjoys spending time with his friends and family.  Paul is also a year-round sports fan and outdoors enthusiast whose favorite recreational activities include golfing in the summer and alpine skiing in the winter.
