I am one of the founding members of Harwood Reiff LLC, a real estate and commercial litigation boutique in Midtown Manhattan. My goal is to provide top-quality representation to my clients in order to help them solve their legal and business problems effectively and efficiently.
My core practice is litigation, primarily representing businesses and their owners and managers in high-stakes disputes in the following five areas:
1. Landlord-tenant litigation, such as commercial and residential evictions (holdovers and nonpayment proceedings), HP (compel repairs) proceedings, illegal lockouts, guaranty actions, and Yellowstone injunctions (to prevent termination of a commercial lease)
2. Real estate litigation, including title disputes, breach of purchase and sales agreements, lease disputes, brokerage commission litigation, boundary issues, condominiums and co-ops, partition actions (co-owner/tenancy in common disputes), and foreclosures and other distressed real estate litigation
3. Complex commercial litigation in the state and federal courts, including claims alleging breach of contract, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, shareholder/partnership issues, copyright infringement and theft of trade secrets, Uniform Commercial Code matters, and Debtor & Creditor Law (fraudulent conveyance) violations
4. Bankruptcy litigation (primarily on behalf of creditors, including landlords), including security deposit issues, motions to lift the automatic stay, administrative expenses applications, adversary proceedings, proofs of claims, motions to dismiss the bankruptcy case for cause, lease assumption and rejection, and bankruptcy appeals
5. Appellate litigation from all types of disputes, including briefs and/or motions filed in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Departments of New York Supreme Court's Appellate Division, in the 1st and 2nd Departments of New York Supreme Court's Appellate Term, and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit
