He needs to consult an attorney right away. There are no guarantees of what any sentence might be if he hasn't plead guilty to anything.

If this is your first arrest, then hopefully it will be O.K. Provide your attorney with any relevant medical documents to assist in your defense.

You should hire an attorney in the state you were arrested.
