when I was preparing to launch my start-up, I did a lot of online research and met with several lawyers. john stood out from the crowd because, while others promised the world, he was very direct and specific about what he could offer me… and he has since exceeded his own promises. he helped me... structure my company in a way that was most appropriate for me personally, as well as the space in which it’s operating. he helped identify the best trademark classes for me, and even stopped me from over-spending by clarifying which were the most cost-effective strategies and which were not realistically worth the investment for a new start-up. john helped me craft my brand message, and regularly brings me back in line by identifying which proposed courses of action are, and are not, brand consistent. john is a very friendly, genuine guy. he has a young family for whom he works very hard, and you get the feeling he advises every client with that person’s family’s best interest in mind. he is well-spoken and professional, but also relaxed and great for a chat. when you speak with john it is obvious he is very present and listening to your every word, dedicating his full resources to helping you at that moment. you can see the wheels turning in his head scanning for the best solution to your problem or question. if you’re starting up a company and looking for a lawyer, do yourself a favor and don’t look any further than john tomlin, as it would be a waste of time. he’s the right lawyer for your company, and you’ve got a lot of work to do.

John recused himself of the basic responsibilities of a real estate lawyer: to conduct due diligence and to advocate on his clients' behalf. When we encountered problems with our contract, instead of trying to fully understand the situation and then advocate on our behalf, he accused us of acting... in bad faith and presented ZERO ideas or strategy for us to navigate the situation. I found myself in the position of doing my own research, presenting him with strategies, and then asking them to rehearse them with me over the phone so that he would come off as lawyerly and confident. Overall, this was a nightmare to have a lawyer with zero lawyerly instincts or responsibilities. He created an incredible amount of stress for my family and we had to fire him. Our new lawyer very gracefully handled our situation with ease and pleasure. John fought us at every step. Avoid his services at all costs.
