Mr. Madsen was trained as an attorney by some of the most accomplished individuals and prestigious establishments of our country’s legal profession.
Mr. Madsen obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University, graduating with distinctions in all subjects and Phi Beta Kappa. He attended Cornell Law School, where he was an Editor to the Cornell Law Review. Upon graduation, cum laude, Mr. Madsen served as a law clerk to the Honorable Ursula Ungaro, United States District Judge for the Southern District of Florida. He assisted and advised the Judge on all aspects of a 150-case civil docket, which covered diverse issues such as civil rights, contract, employment, admiralty, intellectual property, securities and tort law.
After his clerkship, Mr. Madsen joined Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York, and litigated cases involving issues of fraud, corporate liability and defamation, among others. He subsequently joined the boutique firm Cohen & Gresser LLP, where he further refined his skills as a litigator.
Mr. Madsen then joined the United States Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York, and represented the United States government in federal court in over one hundred civil cases covering a wide array of regulatory, constitutional, medical malpractice, tort, tax, employment discrimination, and bankruptcy issues.
Mr. Madsen is a native speaker of French and Haitian Creole, fluent in Spanish, with working knowledge of German. He is admitted to the State Bar of New York, and to the courts of the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, as well as the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Mr. Madsen is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the New York City Bar Association.
