As someone who came to the U.S. as a young child, I understand firsthand the hopes, challenges, and dreams that drive the immigration journey. This personal connection fuels my passionate advocacy for clients navigating one of life's most important transitions.
What I Do
I focus on family and business immigration, providing strategic guidance to professionals, families, and corporations. Whether you're a talented individual pursuing an O-1 visa, a family working to stay together, or a corporation sponsoring skilled foreign workers, I offer comprehensive immigration solutions tailored to your unique needs.
My practice encompasses citizenship, marriage, fiancé(e), and family petitions, temporary work visas (H-1B, L-1, R-1, E-2, TN) and Green Card based employment visas, including NIW and nanny visas. I have a special focus on extraordinary ability visas.
What Sets Us Apart
At Khalique Law PLLC, we work directly with each client, providing personalized attention and clear, consistent communication throughout your immigration journey.
Every case receives a tailored strategy developed specifically for your circumstances—not a one-size-fits-all approach. I take the time to understand your goals, explain your options in plain language, and keep you informed at every stage. This interactive, collaborative approach means you're never in the dark about your case, and you always have direct access to an experienced immigration attorney who knows your file inside and out.
My Approach
With over 13 years of immigration law experience spanning both removal defense and business immigration, I provide strategic counsel that considers every angle of your case. I'm particularly committed to advocating for those facing persecution based on gender and sexual orientation, helping them find safety and stability in the U.S.
For corporations, I demystify the sponsorship process, making it seamless and efficient. For families, I help keep loved ones together, from marriage-based petitions to nanny visas. For extraordinary individuals, I craft compelling O-1 petitions that showcase their talents and achievements.
My Background
My legal career began advocating for underprivileged youth in criminal defense, with experience before the NSW Supreme Court in Sydney, Australia, and continued in the U.S. at the Kings County District Attorney's Office and Nassau Legal Aid Society. I've worked in two private immigration practices in New York before founding Khalique Law PLLC.
I speak English, Bengali, and Spanish, and have guest lectured on immigration law at CUNY Law School, Hofstra University School of Law, and Hunter College.

"Sumaiya Khalique is one of the hardest working attorneys I know. I can attest to her phenomenal work ethic as we spent much of our time in law school studying together. Not only is she whip-smart, she is kind, generous, personable and passionate. I have great confidence in her capability to represent her clients."
