Stephen Gary Dobkin

I worked hard on a case I had almost a decade ago. I needed a new attorney and went to Steve. I'm sure he didn't believe in my case but took a leap of faith when he saw how much work I had done. He is also a professor so he picks the smartest students to intern for him, which was a great help. He is ...quirky, funny, and you can butt heads with him and still have a good relationship (not one of those gigantic legal egos). It turned out that I was right about my case and we got a good payout, which he got 25% of. The negative is that as a law firm the partners ( one in particular) seemed to be greedy and unreasonable, I don't think Steve is this way but when there are partners they all have a say. I desperately wanted to call Steve for my current situation but didn't do so because I knew his partners would require a big retainer and would bill by the hour even though there would likely be a good payout down the road. This is the same reason that, although I really liked Steve and know that he is extremely ethical (something not so easy to find) , I don't recommend the firm to people. None the less, if you can pay upfront, I find Steve to be a great lawyer and very simpatico. I mean just look at that mug.
