Terrible and unprofessional lawyer
Horrible and unprofessional lawyer. Doesn't understand asylum issues at all. Took a $5,000 deposit and did nothing. Didn't apply for asylum. Didn't change address in the court system. Because of him, my stay in America was violated. Never contact this person.
I urge this former client to call my office. In 2019, she and her husband hired me for their asylum case. We had EXTENSIVE communications regarding the legal requirements for WINNING an asylum case. Of course Covid hit in 2020. I was informed the clients were moving out of New York State and in July 2020, during the Covid lockdowns, I came into the office to send their file to their new attorney in another State. I never heard back from them since July 2020. If anything about their stay was violated it was after I gave the case to their new attorney. It is unusual that five years AFTER you hand a case to a new lawyer, the client would then blame you for what may or may not have happened. As stated I handed the file off to their new attorney in July 2020. And we never spoke again. Thus I ask this client to contact my office.

All this is public record. This persons boyfriend was at liberty with a serious federal drug case when I was hired. He remained at liberty with no indictment ever filed until he violated the terms of his release by leaving the country. Upon his return he violated his terms altogether and fled completely. Two years later he returned involuntarily. His girlfriend and I submitted many people for bail packages all of whom Probation refused or the individuals refused. Her own dad refused to sign a bond in the amount needed for this type of case. I fought with three separate prosecutors for his release. I filed a pre pleading memorandum, I filed advisory Guideline letters, I secured a plea that was essentially TIME SERVED Sentencing Guideline and go home. I filed a Speedy Trial motion and he was indicted. I made a bail application and the Magistrate refused stating he had "no problem" denying bond to someone who violated release terms twice. The client asked for his discovery which is his right and for me to file anew my Speedy Trial motion which I agreed. Together in Court we set the schedule to do those things. RIGHT BEFORE I was sent discovery to do the motions needed he asked for a new lawyer saying I didn't "have his best interests at heart." Of course with no lawyer everything stops. No other lawyer could do more. I secured a time served plea to cover the drug and potential failure to appear charge. The client has a right to a trial but he will have to wait in custody as the Magistrate said they don't ROR people in federal court who fled twice. I wish the gentleman all the best. I communicated always with this young lady until her dad told me to speak to him alone (he is an engineer) which I did whenever he had any questions. Later he said he was out of the picture to go back to speaking to his daughter which I did. The client and I spoke by phone dozens of times and I always answered his calls except when he called early and I was in Court. If anyone filed a complaint all of this is public record and a part of the docket. I have acted aggressively and ethically at all times. Had the gentleman not asked for a new lawyer I would have had his discovery and filed motions weeks ago. Moreover had he taken the plea I secured for him months ago, he could be getting sentenced to time served within the next few weeks and be home. No one HAS to take a plea, everyone is presumed innocent and everyone has a right to a trial. When you leave the country then leave the jurisdiction altogether for two years, and have no family or friends willing to sign a sufficient bond, one will have to wait in detention for their trial date. No lawyer can change that.

False promises
I had a phone interview with Mr. Osuna. He was very promising, however, at the end of every sentence he asked for his money "as soon as I received your first payment, I will start your case. Your case is very simple and if shouldn't take long". I sent him the payment and that was the end of it. Every...
This review is false. The review states I had to "call a DA" thus implying their matter was a criminal case. The review complains that after a year the case was "too old" to be helped. That cannot be true. Every criminal case requires regular monthly court appearances. The client must be present or have a warrant issued for their arrest. ANY CRIMINAL DEFENSE CLIENT KNOWS IN ONE YEAR THEY WOULD HAVE MADE AT LEAST EIGHT TO TEN COURT APPEARANCES WITH THEIR ATTORNEY PRESENT. Its impossible a criminal case would have lasted a year and the client never see or speak to their lawyer, not even in Court? Further when criminal cases get "too old" the case case gets dismissed and the client is present for this or any result. Thus I urge this writer to contact me directly to discuss what compels them to write things that cannot be true. Its unfortunate that AVVO allows individuals to make anonymous complaints of this nature.

Robert is a great attorney
My family hired Robert Osuna after I was arrested and held on an out of state warrant for sexual assault. I was held without bail. Robert proved I wasn't the perpetrator they were looking for and I was released after all the charges were dismissed. Robert sued the police department that was respon...
"Mr. Osuna is a gentleman and a scholar. He is also a very nice guy, who is approachable, does not talk over anyone's head although he is extremely knowledgeable and intelligent, and an accomplished attorney. I not only happily endorse him, but I would refer those seeking the legal services he provides and practices in that I do not to him."
