Prior to opening her first law firm from 1996-1998, Laura Miranda worked as an advisor to a Judge in New York State Supreme Court., as a Principal Law Clerk at New York State Supreme Court, Honorable Justice Nicholas Figueroa.

Laura Miranda researched and drafted pre-trial and post-judgment decisions, nine published opinions, New York Law Journal. Observed felony hearings, trials, and oral arguments. Conferenced cases, reviewed memoranda, discussed legal issues and charges with Justice Figueroa. Managed Internship programs. Instructed students on criminal law and procedure, assigned legal writing projects, critiqued and edited their work. Attended legal conferences/seminars.

After graduating from Cornell Law School, May 1989, with a concentration in Trial Advocacy,  Laura Miranda commenced her career fighting for the rights of the poor , arrested by police, at The Legal Aid Society, Criminal Defense Division,  approximately 7 years.  During this period she also recruited students to become defense lawyers and lectured about criminal law at Cornell, Fordham, Brooklyn, University of Miami, Law Schools.

Laura M. Miranda,  Maintained independent caseload, sixty to one hundred clients. Conducted forty to sixty misdemeanor and felony pre-trial hearings, four misdemeanor trials, and sixteen felony trials. Interviewed and arraigned clients, negotiated plea bargains, and attended lineups. Investigated crime scenes and located witnesses. Prepared clients/witnesses to testify at hearings, trials and before Grand Juries. Submitted legal memoranda on numerous points of law, including defective indictment, preclusion of evidence, motion to set aside verdict, and predicate sentencing. Trained and supervised law interns.
