Knowledgeable

Mr. Pagano is first of all a a caring lawyer. He took time in more than one occasion to spend over 40 minutes with me on the phone to explain swaths in bankruptcy proceedings, to direct in the proper direction, referred me and my case to other knowledgeable colleagues also of high ethical standards. He knows his business and is not afraid or intimidated by trustees or any adversary.

Good real estate lawyer

Jim Pagano was our lawyer when we were attempting to buy a co-op apartment in Queens. This was almost nine years ago (I just happened to be on this webpage now and decided I owed him a good review). He was referred to me by my sister-in-law. He was extremely generous with his time, talking with me on the phone for 45 minutes initially without any charge while he explained how co-ops work. I think he gave me good advice, helped me through making an offer on the apartment and writing the contract (at which point we in fact decided not to do the purchase), and charged reasonable rates. My one (relatively minor) complaint was that after I explained to him some issues with my past debts and credit history, he forgot some of the details and I had to tell him again, which caused some minor complications.

Unorganized & Expensive

We hired Mr. Pagano to assist with my mother's estate. His communication and time management skills were very bad. He did not return calls in a timely manner. More importantly, after speaking to others in the same situation, we felt he focused far too much on the details that didn't matter- which ultimately led to a very large bill.

Awful

I hired Mr. Pagano 6 years ago to file a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. He was paid in full in advance and provided with all of the requested information and documentation necessary multiple times in order to file the bankruptcy, Nevertheless after 5 years, my bankruptcy was NEVER filed. In short, I had to hire another attorney who completed the entirety of the Chapter 7 petition in 45 days.
