I’m a former trial attorney who now writes the kind of briefs I used to argue against. Arguing in court taught me to read a brief the way a judge does. The question isn’t “is this persuasive?” It’s “can I rule this way and stand behind it?” So every point I write starts with the case that holds it, not the conclusion I’d like to reach. An argument without authority behind it is just an opinion with a caption.

Recent result: a bond motion I drafted for a Texas firm resulted in bond granted at $3,000 in Houston, and the government did not appeal.

When I’m not working, I’m usually walking the city with my wife (she's the best part of my day), looking for our next favorite sushi spot, or trying to get out on a golf course, with mixed results.
