Hera Javed

Hera Javed is a partner at J&K Law. She is a first-generation immigrant and has extensive experience in Immigration Law. Hera focuses her practice on all aspects of immigration law including but not limited to Removal Defense, Family-based petitions, and Employment based petitions.​

Prior to founding her firm, Heraworked in a reputable law firm where she gained years of immigration experience. Hera was also a Fellow for the Community Legal Resource Network providing legal representation to low-income New Yorkers. While in Law School, Mrs. Chand was a clinician at the school’s renowned Immigrant and Refugee Rights clinic where she represented the indigent immigrant population. She is a supporter of CUNY’s Creating Law Enforcement Accountability & Responsibility project, which aims to address the unmet needs of Muslim, Arab, and South Asian communities in New York City that are particularly affected by national security and counterterrorism policies and practices. She has provided numerous know-your-rights presentations at mosques and community centers on how to interact with law enforcement.

Hera received her B.A. from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, graduating magna cum laude, and her J.D. from the nation’s premier Public Interest law school, City University of New York School of Law, where she was the Executive Articles Editor for the New York City Law Review, received the South Asian Bar Association of New York Public Interest Fellowship, and was President of the Muslim Law Students Association.

Hera is admitted to practice in New York State and speaks Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi. She is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
