James Joseph Corbett

I hired a James J Corbett for a civil case involving an architect and paid thousands of dollars throughout the process. The result was a judgment that is completely uncollectible — not because of the case itself, but because of a strategic decision I never agreed to. Corbett filed the lawsuit ...against the architect's company rather than him personally. I never authorized this. I specifically knew the company was already in default, which is exactly why I would never have agreed to go after the entity instead of the individual. When I confronted him about this, he claimed it was what I had agreed to. I had not. To make it worse, his communication throughout the process was condescending. He did not listen, dismissed my concerns, and when I raised this critical issue he became dismissive rather than taking responsibility. The outcome: I have a judgment I cannot collect. That is the direct result of his decision, not mine. I would strongly caution anyone considering hiring him to get everything in writing, confirm every strategic decision in a signed document, and be very careful.
