Michael Evan Gildenberg

Mike Gildenberg, Esq. has spent most of his career at Central Jersey Legal Services representing tenants, and during that time he has earned his reputation as one of the most knowledgeable housing lawyers in the state. I have personally watched him wipe the floor with high priced “white shoe” scumlo...rd lawyers on more than one occasion, and even put DCA in their place on behalf of the working poor and the disabled with housing vouchers or public housing residents. He knows the law so well, and has such an excellent reputation with The Bench, that his opinions are often taken as legal fact. He has tried just about every conceivable housing matter one can think of. He has an excellent knowledge of not only state and federal housing law, but the regulations and the interplay with between all of it and their practical application. He also has spends a small portion of his time representing the poor and disabled before Social Services and ALJs, and his knowledge of the regulations and their application is certainly equally as robust as his housing law practice. He sits on committees related to affordable housing and Veteran’s Homeless prevention and rehousing. While an absolute shark in court, he can negotiate a settlement between parties who absolutely hate each other, or have a case dismissed in chambers with no real explanation other than a smirk and smile. I have personally watched Landlord attorneys come up to him and ask his interpretation of the application of the law, and then say “I knew you’d know the answer.” Extremely accessible, friendly and genuinely caring. He enjoys his job - and he’s excellent at it.
