Michael Scott Green

Michael was my attorney in a divorce matter, and I always felt he had my best interests in mind. He fought for me on several motions, and argued very effectively. He also helped me understand exactly where my case was, and where it was going, which helped keep me informed along the way. I used Mr. Green for a fairly simple, uncontested divorce. I walked in with a written document of agreement from our mediator, all that needed to be done was filing the papers and preparing a Property Settlement Agreement from our agreement document. I waited and waited and finally received a cop...y of the same agreement , word for word, that I gave them. I received sloppy instructions and had to beg for answers to my questions. My phone calls and emails were ignored, even though I needed very little quidance. When my case was ready to request a docket number from the court, (which was because I basically did everything myself and got my answers online), my papers sat, unopened and ignored on his paralegal's desk because she had a baby. My divorce date was delayed by one month for no reason other than Mr. Green's poor service, choosing to not have a temporary replacement for his paralegal, to file boilerplate paperwork. He showed up to court, 15 minutes late, completely unaware of all of the details of my case. He actually seemed surprised as he read my agreement, as if he had never seen it before, although, I was being told he had reviewed and finalized the paperwork. If your divorce is noncontested and you are in agreement, don't waste your time and money with him. If you need representation, I would advise going elsewhere.

I hired Green for a contested divorce with little equitable distrubution. He ignored the other attorney's calls and letters. He did not keep me up to date on my case. He was very disrespectful. Told me I was too emmotional. I did everything he told me to do. All he wants is YOUR money. And he ...doesn't want to work for it. My husband's attorney drew up all documents. At the MSA meeting, he didn't go over the paperwork. He told me to drop my temporary order of protection and sign the agreement as is. Mr. Green told me to get over losing more than my share. He insinuated that it was my fault for letting my husband abuse me physically and cash in all my stocks, bonds and bank accounts without my knowledge. And if I didn't sign the papers right then, he wanted a check for $25,000 dollars. He said that's what he would charge me to go to trial. Thats after I paid him over $12,000. Months went by and I had not received any return phone calls. I was not divorced yet. I then started getting items mailed to me personally from my husband's attorney saying that Green wouldn't return their calls. I drove to his office and his staff told me he did not want to represent me anymore. They refused to show me where my money went. I immediately sought different counsel. When they contacted Green to get my files, they said my files were in storage. STORAGE??? When I needed him to fight for me, and he had to put some effort into my case, he refused. Because of his actions, my divorce dragged on for 3 years and $30,000 trying to fix what Green screwed up. I had to basically start all over but couldn't change what I lost signing the MSA which was so one sided. I lost the little I should have gotten. Please, do yourself a favor, when your getting divorced and everything needs to be written down, you need an attorney who will fight for you. You don't want a lawyer lIke Michael S. Green.
