Needs to Work Out Personal Issues Before Practicing Again

I hope people see this review as well as the others on this site before hiring Kaitlin. My time with Kaitlin representing me through a long drawn-out case was a constant struggle for proper communication, timely responses to both me and the court, dealing with her showing up late, and making sure she... was doing her "homework" on our case. It is disappointing to say the least because I happen to find Kaitlin to be personable and likable under possibly different circumstances. After having her represent us over two years, I think her main issue is not wanting/being unable to put in the work when it is needed most. She fails to deliver because she avoids, and procrastinates, ...and avoids, and procrastinates because of personal issues. I happen to know it is due to these issues, because during my last and final meeting with her (before her firm let her go) she broke down and cried to me about them. On one hand, I am an empathetic person who was kind enough to hear her through, but on the other hand was outraged that these tears came shortly after I had presented her with a string of documented emails and calls that had been unanswered for two months!! During this period of my trying to contact her, there were time sensitive issues occurring that were being blatantly ignored by her. When finally called out and had no other excuse to turn to, she broke down about her personal life. I'm sorry, but I am not her college professor, therapist, doctor, parent, or friend, and happen to have paid quite a bit of money for her services. I found this to be distasteful and unprofessional. Having to work with Kaitlin added an element of stress I didn't need, as my case alone was stressful enough. Why was I paying to babysit my lawyer? It is my opinion that Kaitlin needs to walk away from this profession, or find a way to consult on legal issues but not actually litigate. While I gave her a low rating on being "knowledgeable" I do think she has the capacity to know the in's and out's of her field, but under her current circumstances she is clouded and unable to perform. Additionally, while this is a pretty tame review considering the amount of stress she has caused me, I must adamantly reiterate that I do NOT recommended her, and honestly wish she had not represented me from the start. I was able to obtain the file she had on my case, and looking back I can see the shortcuts, dishonest practices (not informing me of evidence, etc), and sloppiness she delivered throughout the case. It is such a shame that a seemingly intelligent woman is unable to deliver even the bare-minimum. If you take a look at her resume, she is unable to stay with a firm more than a year, and from what I have heard and read - she has left on poor terms with almost all of her employers. I hope she does everyone a favor, and moves on from representing people in real-need of legal services.

BE CAREFUL: I wouldn't give her a complicated case

I took the recommendation of a friend and retained Kaitlin Kennedy Keighery. She does not follow through. She did not take the lead and move my case forward. She did not return my phone calls or emails. What she did was waste my precious time. After 2 weeks, I called and they did know I had sent ...anything. It took them 3 days to locate the large package of information I had sent. I do not know to what extent she reviewed the materials I sent either by mail or email since she never told me or revealed that she had any understanding of the details of my case. What work she did on my case was print out standard forms, have a lower level lawyer fill them in, and file them with the court. She telephoned my husband and had him served. My husband got a lawyer, got himself organized and sent interrogatories to Kaitlin, and then Kaitlin sent him standard interrogatory forms without checking with me. If you are a patient, kind person, do not hire Kaitlin. You are too easy for her to ignore. On the Friday before a Tuesday early settlement panel, she had not contacted me, so I sent her an email reminding her that we had an early settlement panel and asking if we are ready, which she then she rescheduled at the very last minute. I never knew what the plan for my case was. After wasting 10 months in this manner, I retained another lawyer. I like Kaitlin, had looked forward to working with her, and wish her all the best. I will go so far as to agree with another reviewer: I too wonder how she managed to get through law school with the work habits I have seen. Maybe she needs to grow or find her niche, but right now and in my case, she hasn't got what it takes to provide the protections that wives need during a divorce with domestic violence.

UNPROFESSIONAL, UNRELIABLE, UNTRUSTWORTHY!!!

In writing this review, it is difficult for me to address Ms. Kaitlin Kennedy as a lawyer since she completely fails the title and profession. We all know lawyers can be liars but by God have I EVER seen such a poor excuse for one! First of all, AFTER I PAID HER, she failed to show up to my court c...ase. Why? I find out she was on her honeymoon!! NEVER said a thing or notifies the court. It was re-scheduled. THEN she faints while addressing the judge, so it is rescheduled again. She never EVER returns my calls, and my case is dismissed by the judge. She also fails to return the portion of money which is due me. Aside from being completely outraged, I ask myself how this girl EVER passed the bar, and was granted a license to practice law. Unbelievable! Go ahead and try her...at your own risk.
