Disorganized and Incompetent

It was an incredibly frustrating experience working with this attorney for my home sale. Throughout the entire transaction, there was a severe lack of attention to detail and professional competence. She repeatedly missed critical details—including putting incorrect property information on documents... and not realizing who needed to be present for the closing. Furthermore, she double-billed me for a deposit I had already paid and pushed me to just give in to the buyers' demands rather than fighting for my interests. Completely unprofessional. A few major issues included: ERRORS: She provided incorrect property information, listing an entirely different address on the official closing paperwork documents. POOR PLANNING: She failed to realize who was required to be present for signing, forcing an unexpected and stressful emergency appointment with a notary the day of closing. BILLING ISSUES: She double-billed because she claimed she "didn't realize" my initial deposit had already been paid. Real estate transactions are stressful enough without your own legal counsel creating unnecessary obstacles and errors. I cannot recommend her services.

Sorry your experience was less than ideal. I pride myself on my professionalism and competence. Sometimes a lawyer/client relationship is difficult and in this case it certainly was. There was no poor planning on my part as I have been doing this for 34 years. You never mentioned that your husband was not in NJ and thus I had to send him the sale documents via FedEx. Once I received those documents, I asked you to come to my office to sign them and you refused stating that you were leaving for a trip and did not feel like driving 45 minutes. . I therefore drove the documents to you after hours and did not charge you for my time. When I first discuss a closing with all clients I let everyone know that they will have to come to my office to sign the sale documents. Not once did you mention your hesitancy to drive to my office nor did you mention the whereabouts of your husband. As for the error on one of the sale documents (not one that would be recorded, but only went to the title company), you are correct, however, I instructed you to simply cross out the wrong address and insert the correct one. You fought me on doing this and said you would refer to a Notary for instructions. Thus creating more confusion than necessary. You also were constantly deferring to all of your friends who had closed on their homes and listened to their advice, not mine. I always do what is in my client's best interests and would never "push" a client to give into buyer's demands.. I present the pros and cons of each demand and then let you, as the client, make the final decision. The billing issue was a clerical issue and was promptly remediated. Client transparency in a closing is so important and that was lacking here. I would be silly to think that i would never have a negative review, however, I closed this matter successfully and on time so I will take that as a win. Good luck with your future endeavors.
