Alexa N. Joyce

Alexa N. Joyce, Esq. is a life-long resident of Monmouth County. She attended Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and sociology. Alexa subsequently attended Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey where she graduated with her Masters in Social Work with a concentration in International and Community Development and is now a Licensed Social Worker. While at Monmouth University Alexa interned for the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency in West Long Branch, New Jersey and the New Jersey Children’s Alliance in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Alexa earned her Juris Doctorate at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York where she was a Child and Family Advocacy Fellow. During her time at Hofstra, Alexa helped to establish the Hofstra University Center for Children, Families, and the Law. She also served as Managing Editor of Notes and Comments of the Family Court Review. Alexa interned at the New Jersey Public Defender’s Office of the Law Guardian in Asbury Park, New Jersey and Lawyers for Children in Manhattan, New York. Alexa also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Jeffrey A. Goodstein, Supervising Judge of the Nassau County Supreme Court Matrimonial Center. After law school, Alexa completed a clerkship for Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Kathleen A. Sheedy, the Presiding Judge of the Family Part.

Alexa is an active member of the Monmouth Bar Association and serves as a member of the Young Lawyers Committee, the Special Events Committee, the Health and Wellness Committee, and the Mock Trial Committee. Alexa continues her involvement with the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), an international, interdisciplinary, association of professionals dedicated to the resolution of family conflict. Alexa’s article, “High-Conflict Divorce: A Form of Child Neglect” was published in AFFC’s quarterly journal, Family Court Review.
