Horrible experience

Hired this attorney to buy a house. First, after my mortgage was denied, this lawyer did not represent me (the buyer) and get me out of the contract, but instead asking for a $5000 penalty payment (which I declined to pay), then asking for $1000-$1500. Second, with the push from my real estate agen...t and the seller’s attorney’s email – the agreement to cancel the contract and authorize my attorney to return the entire deposit back to me, this attorney did not negotiate with the title company and help me to get the deposit back after the cancellation of the contract. This attorney deferred the question to me and the title company. It was me as the buyer who contacted the title company and surveying company to reduce the cost. I took care of the deposit issue by myself. Throughout this entire process this attorney was not representing my interests as he was hired to do, and refused to provide support.

Unfortunately, the client's bank withdrew the title commitment it had issued days before the closing. The only costs client incurred were a small cancellation fee to the title company and a small fee to the surveying company for the townhouse certification. Our firm professionally represented the client throughout this transaction. We wish her well in any future purchase she may make.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
