Herbert Davis Hinkle

We hired Mr. Hinkle for Power of Attorney and other services because he has a reputation for being successful in the area of elder law and disability law. For the time he was our lawyer, Mr. Hinkle was rude and unwilling to directly respond to questions we asked him regarding our case and our contrac...t. We had never worked with a lawyer in his area of expertise before,and thus had numerous questions which we thought he would answer. Our previous lawyers (Real Estate, Tax) were always thoughtful and friendly, so we thought he would be as well. But as I stated above, he was unresponsive and quite rude. He was also very expensive, he charged us for every phone and e-mail correspondence that we had with his office. I would recommend him only if you have the money, have no other option and want to be treated badly.

I tried to get a call back from him prior to the consultation I had scheduled just so I could explain our needs and confirm that he would be able to provide guidance in the areas we were looking for advise, but wouldn't do so. He wouldn't even give you a minute on the phone prior to the consultation.... I clearly stated that I was not looking to get advise prior to the consultation, that I simply wanted to explain the circumstances, but it didn't matter. Also, after hearing his rates (very high) I am glad I canceled.

My wife and I went to Mr. Hinkle because of his reputation in elder law. In our initial meeting, Mr. Hinkle was very informative but he seemed irritated when we asked too many questions or did not seem to understand something. Once we paid him the retainer fee, it was almost impossible to get a direc...t response from him. E-mails and letters were one or two sentences long and he did not really answer our questions. We ended up firing him as our attorney because he was insensitive, we could never directly talk to him and his rates were too high.

I recently had work done by them for POA and wills. They a lot charged for templated work and worst lost my documents after sending them, un-certified mail, to a wrong address. Now all my personal information is out who knows where. When I informed them I never received them I was rudely told to w...ait a month or two to see if they are returned. I Never got them. When I asked for reimbursement for this I was told too bad the work was done.
