Joseph Sean Connelly

Sean Connelly obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Marquette University in 1989 and his Juris Doctor degree from St. John’s University School of Law in 1994.  He was admitted to the New Jersey Bar and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey in 1994.  He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1995.  He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Sothern and Eastern Districts of New York.  He is an active member of the New Jersey Association for Justice. 

Sean spent the first 8 years practicing mainly in New York State Courts. During that time, he represented plaintiffs in personal injury cases as well as acting as outside counsel to the Hartford and Travelers Insurance defending select cases and handling appellate work.   His plaintiff’s practice focused on labor law, products liability and general negligence cases.  In 2001 he returned to New Jersey and founded Connelly & Connelly, representing clients in a diverse practice that included catastrophic personal injury, criminal defense as well as defense construction and lead paint cases.    In 2008 Sean Leonard & Leonard, the predecessor firm to Leonard Legal Group.  Sean prides himself on hiprior client referrals and a majority of his clients remain loyal to him by referring family and friends.

Sean has tried numerous jury and non-jury trial in both New York and New Jersey. He regularly litigates complex personal injury to settlement and/or verdict including motor vehicle collisions, construction accidents, spinal cord injuries, wrongful death, traumatic brain damage cases, defective products and premises liability cases. He is independently responsible for an extensive caseload from inception through trial or resolution.  He effectively utilizes technology and automation in the practice of law by Implementing and managing the Trial Works case management program across the practice, which allows him to manage the firm’s most complex cases.   He is personally responsible for overseeing all standards of excellence in managing the practice’s conversion to an electronic case management system. He mentors and trains the less experienced counsel and legal support staff and provides consistent advice and training to other members of the firm and co-counsel.  Sean’s personal caseload has consistently generated multi-million dollar gross settlements year in and year out.  Sean most notably took the lead on the Firm’s $29,500, Settlement and Judgment in Passaic County involving a Products Liability and Auto Accident.  On a personal note, Sean is extremely active in Youth Roller and Ice Hockey programs in his local community and has acted as a coach and assistant coach for many years.
