This is a case in which a best-selling author initiated the legal process to get access to grand jury records about the murder of four African-American citizens near Monroe, GA in July, 1946. Despite ... numerous witnesses and weeks of testimony, no one was indicted. I represented author Anthony S. Pitch since late 2013 in his quest to get the transcripts. Currently, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals has reversed a favorable 2019 decision and, with a deep split in the circuits, it appears the case will now be headed for the Supreme Court.
