I had an issue that I did not want to spend a lot of money on lawyer fees to resolve. I was assured my case would not be more than $3,000. The defendant did not object, did not respond and did not oppose our motion. I was stunned to see my bill was over $8,000. I finally made the difficult decision to divorce several years ago after more than 25 years of marriage. The original law firm I contracted with split up while my case was still pending.
