Joe Mecca is the best!

Joe Mecca is everything you would ever want in a lawyer, and more. Intelligent and Strategic: Joe knows the law and he uses his knowledge to strategically handle your case and get the results you need. Work ethic: Joe always responds to my emails or calls in an extremely timely manner. Ther...e have been multiple times when Joe helped me well outside of "normal business hours." It was clear that Joe was working very hard on my behalf, and he would spend time outside of the office to work on, and think about, my case. I was consistently impressed with how quickly Joe could turn things around and get things done. Excellent writer: So much success in our legal system depends on the written word, and Joe's legal writing is excellent. He is thorough, detailed, and many times he articulated the facts better than I had explained them to him. Having read documents from other lawyers, it is obvious that Joe's writing is many levels above the rest. Networking: Legal success depends on how well your lawyer knows the other lawyers, judges, clerks, and everyone else in the legal system. Joe seems to know everyone, and more importantly, when you see how his peers interact with him, it is clear that he is very well respected and highly regarded. There were several times when I told people that Joe was representing me, and they asked me to please tell Joe they said hello. These interactions made me feel proud to be Joe's client. Ethical: Personally, the thing that I respect the most about Joe is that he will always tell you the reality of the situation. At every stage during my case, he always told me what to expect. He always set my expectations, and he never inflated any possible outcomes. I respect that Joe made sure that my expectations were realistic, thus enabling me to make informed, intelligent decisions about my case. Last, and possibly the best measure of Joe’s abilities would be that at every step in my case, Joe was able to get me what I wanted. I was always pleased with the outcomes and in the end, I would simply say, Joe won my case for me.

A Disorganized Disaster of an Attorney

Joe represented me in an arbitration in 2013, which I won. My case was very strong. Following his receipt of the settlement, he had to be asked three times over one month to send the check. He was also retained in 2014 for an "Order to Show Cause" in civil court to enforce the arbitration on an on...going basis. I returned the signed paperwork to be filed with the court n March. and asked him to let me know when he had filed it. No confirmation came. Four weeks later, I sent him an e-mail asking why we didn't have a court date yet. No response. A week after that he filed the paperwork with the court without ever getting back to me or explaining why the paperwork sat in his office for five weeks. He was unprepared and inarticulate during the subsequent court hearing, having showed up late. He also had to ask me the most basic question while speaking to the judge. The judge ruled in my favor based on the only issue that mattered, a point this attorney never raised orally. A little more work remained between myself and the defendant that had to be completed by 9/19, based on a deadline with an expiring master insurance policy for a condominium association between the defendant and myself, the source of the controversy. On 9/10, Joe said in an e-mail that he would call me that day. No call. No call on 9/11 or 9/12 either (a Friday). I sent him a gentle e-mail indicating we needed to speak on Monday. Still no call. At 3 pm I called his office and was told he was busy. I was also told he would call back. He didn't. I called again on Tuesday, 9/16. Was told he was busy. I sent a pointed e-mail highlighting what had happened since 9/10 and indicated that I can't trust him. He responded caustically, making it clear that I was not important enough as a client and to come pick up my file. Since I was traveling on Wednesday, 9/17, I couldn't start handling this matter directly with the defendant's attorney until 9/18. Today, 9/19, I had to renew the existing insurance policy (which carries a higher premium) because the defendant and I did not thave the opportunity to agree on the lower-cost alternatives, since our dealings require a decision to be unanimous between the two of us. This will cost me money as Joe's negligence is not the defendant's fault. Finally, his retainer was paid to him in February. In July, he said to me, 'I need a check" and asked for $1500. He received it promptly. Yet I have never received a single time sheet from him.

Although John's review is completely inaccurate and unfair, and does not in any way reflect either the true facts concerning my representation of him, or the circumstances of my informing him that I would no longer do so ( which unfortunately prompted him to write such a false and malicious review), I sincerely regret his dissatisfaction, and I will continue to strive to achieve the best results for my clients, while keeping within the law, and maintaining the highest ethical standards.

Wonderful

Mr. Mecca worked so hard on mine and my children's behalf. He understood my financial hardship and worked with me at my pace. He was compassionate, yet in court while dignified he was fantastic and extremely strategic. His work is truly outstanding.
