If you answered the ESTA questions accurately and truthfully you may still face secondary inspection because of your immigration history.

Is the H1B receipt and approval document filed by an attorney sent back to the attorney or the employer. What about H4 receipt?

You can retrieve if either from your employer or the attorney they both receive a copy of same.

Did he check to see if he was registered by USCIS? You can go on the website and enter your information to see if your are registered. SSS.gov
