Experienced Trial Attorney and Community Leader Handling Complex Civil, Commercial, and Employment Litigation
Mandelbaum Barrett PC Partner Stephen G. Walko is a third-generation resident of Greenwich, Connecticut. He is a skilled trial attorney whose fair and practical approach yields positive results for his clients in all types of civil and commercial litigation, including personal injury (motor vehicle and construction accidents) and wrongful death matters, as well as real estate transactions and employment law.
In 2008, Governor Rell appointed him to serve as a Public Member of the State Board of Mediation and Arbitration and he currently serves as an arbitrator between a hospital and its union workforce in New York. His work as an arbitrator has given him keen insight into his adversaries’ legal arguments in litigation, thereby strengthening his ability to achieve successful results for his clients.
He is admitted to the bars of the State of Connecticut and New York as well as the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and the New York Appellate Division, Second Department. He is also past President of the Greenwich Bar Association and a member of the Fairfield County and Connecticut Bar Associations. Stephen previously served as counsel to Indian Harbor Yacht Club and is its current Commodore. Stephen represents several home owner and neighborhood associations within the Town of Greenwich.
He is extremely active in charitable and governmental affairs in the state of Connecticut and the Town of Greenwich. In 2012, he was elected to the Connecticut State Legislature as a State Representative for the 150th District (Greenwich’s Shoreline). From 2008-2011, he served as Chairman of the Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation. He has also served as Chairman of the Representative Town Meeting, Budget Overview Committee and Chairman of the Republican Town Committee. Recently, Stephen was the Chair of the Committee responsible for building a new elementary school in Greenwich, and currently serves as Chair of the Greenwich High School Security Vestibule Building Committee. In 2024, the Greenwich Sentinel newspaper named Mr. Walko “2024 Greenwich Sentinel Awardee”, in recognition of his “considerable impact in the governance of his hometown of Greenwich, and in his home state”.
