Haywood Martin Wise

I first heard of Mr. Wise through U.S. Embassy affiliated personnel who stated many U.S. citizens living in Paris had been happy with his services. While he was unable to take on the first case I had proposed, as it was already being handled by another lawyer, he provided valuable counsel over the p...hone, superior to that I had been receiving, and refused payment for this. Years later, I had the opportunity to hire his expertise for another concern. Again, he was extremely prompt and available by phone, even more so than by email. His ready availability to arrange prompt meetings in person was also a welcome change from usual local attorney practices. I very much appreciated his direct, no-nonsense and hard-hitting approach to my case, and evident willingness and openness to obtain further advice from his colleagues, using a team approach for problem solving. I retained Haywood Wise & Associates to handle all the legal work required to obtain a work visa in France. As a New Yorker who was keen to make the move to Paris quickly, I was relieved to find Mr. Wise. I appreciate that he's from NJ/NY and understands the importance of expediency with these matter...s. In addition, he is also very knowledgeable about the overall legal process in France and, in particular, all the nuances involving French work visas. He was always accessible and ready to answer any questions, as well as offer various solutions. Thanks to him and his team, I was able to secure a visa in a short amount of time with ease. I will start off by saying one nice thing about Haywood: he seems like a nice guy. The work, however, was very disappointing. We paid Haywood a fair amount of money for him to provide us with the same information we had already found online. Beyond that, Haywood appears to be very disorganized. W...e would follow up with him with payment or information within the hour of his request, and the next time we would hear from him would be days later telling us that he was still waiting on us. The email was literally in the thread to which he was replying. Finally, I followed up with Haywood after we met with the processing center to provide him this same feedback. He ignored the feedback and replied instead with something along the lines of, "Looks like you had your appointment!" I couldn't tell if this was him being purposefully obtuse or just incidentally so. I've hired much better immigration lawyers in the past who have prepared me for what to expect and gave me the confidence when dealing with French bureaucracy that I would be able to handle what they threw my way. With Haywood, I felt less prepared than if I had gone there on my own. Friends and colleagues have told me that Haywood is good when you need a simple thing done that could otherwise be done on an assembly line but requires a lawyer's name on it. I trust them on that, but for anything else I won't consider or endorse Haywood Wise.
