I represented this person's husband in the divorce and not her. She never paid the office as she was not my client. She never answered the complaint and she represented herself in the preparation of the PSA. I keep her informed of the of the status of the divorce and advised her of the date for the Final Default Hearing. I also advised her to appear if she wanted to change her name. She did not appear at the final hearing and when I asked the judge to change her name as indicated in the PSA, the judge refused as he required the Defendant to testify that she was not changing her name to avoid creditors or criminal prosecution. A copy of the Judgment of Divorce was sent to her shortly after the Final Hearing. Six years later she contacted the office to indicate that her name was never changed at the time of the divorce. My client was very happy with his representation by my office as he indicated on the record on the date of the divorce.
