Pat is an intellectual property lawyer and a registered patent attorney with many years of industrial experience in product development and manufacturing. Prior to entering law practice, Pat was a chemist in the pharmaceutical industry, holding positions from bench chemist to Research Director. While working in consumer products for a Fortune 100 company, she developed a fascination for trademarks, learning the importance of branding.
She chose law, specifically intellectual property law, as a second career because of a long-held fascination with patents and trademarks. After spending decades in the pharmaceutical industry working with patents, either researching for submission in new patent applications or developing a non-infringing alternate to a competitor’s patent, she wanted to help others file their own applications.
Pat is fascinated by manufacturing and loves to watch things being made. Shortly after her wedding, she dragged her groom back to his hometown of Louisville to watch baseball bats, cigarettes and bourbon being made. She spent as much time in manufacturing plants as she did at the lab bench when working in the pharmaceutical industry, watching new ideas and products launch and become reality.
Pat’s patent practice has not been limited to just life sciences, but also includes a wide range of industrial consumer products. She has helped clients obtain patents in a wide range of art, from clothing to automobile parts, from baby accessories to sporting equipment.
Pat likes to make things herself, too. She has brewed her own beer, made her own clothes and caught dinner from the deep blue sea. She has tried her hand at flying a plane, a helicopter and operating a motorcycle.

The best around!
Pat is an amazing patent lawyer! Personable and experienced, you can tell she really cares about her clients and doing a professional job. I came to her with somewhat of a deadline, and next to no experience filing a patent – she spent a lot of time talking with me and working on my utility patent...
Thanks for the kind words. Like everyone, learning about a fast-approaching deadline at the 11th hour is not a great spot to be in, but I have never missed a filing deadline as an attorney just as I never missed a deadline for results in my lab. Looking forward to working with Cece through the patent process.
"An excellent lawyer who treats clients with patience, care, understanding, and utmost professionalism - an even better person and I wholeheartedly recommend for future services."
"I first met Pat over seven years ago when she was still in law school and worked for my firm as a summer associate. Pat is an excellent IP attorney, who brings a breadth of "real world" industry experience to her IP practice. Pat's research and industry experience serves her clients well in protecting their highly technical inventions and differentiates Pat from her peers."
