Attorney Demattie was retained by me after initially retaining the services of another high profile divorce attorney/firm in the area. My experience with the other attorney (who came highly recommended from a trusted source) was absolutely awful. That said, I was lucky enough to have a family friend ...refer me to Atty. Demattie. Atty. Demattie represented me in what was a year long custody battle against some relatively challenging odds (as a Father trying to get Joint Custody of an infant child). Attorney Demattie's knowledge of the law, integrity of character and calm and disciplined demeanor made all the difference in helping me to get Joint Custody of my young son. Atty. Demattie's hourly rate is on par and perhaps a little less than other experienced Family attorney's. Family Law and the Family Courts are specialized and therefore, based on my experience, lawyers who are generalists are simply not as well equipped to get you the most expeditious and beneficial outcome. I must also preface that in Family Law/litigation in particular, an attorney's hourly rate is very deceiving and not the measure of what should be used for retaining an attorney. In truth, the critical question is how a Family Attorney utilizes their time. To this end, Attorney Demattie is very organized and efficient and as a result, his billing was always very fair. For those who are going through a Family/Divorce/Child Custody matter, the two attributes that are perhaps most invaluable when selecting an attorney are specific knowledge of Family Law (experience) and integrity/character. In truth, those are two attributes that would seem important for hiring any professional; however, in a family matter, the value associated with those attributes is immeasurable given what's at stake. Attorney Demattie uniquely possesses both qualities and as mentioned, his experience was essential for helping me to get Joint Custody of my young son (as well as favorable terms in the divorce settlement). In closing, as an aside, it impressed me that Chris always remembered finite details about my case, despite the fact that he naturally has many other clients. In my experience, there was a lot of detail that was necessarily associated with building our case. However, Chris routinely (and strategically) reminded me of pertinent detail that I'd shared with him in the past that I'd forgotten about. In short, Attorney Demattie takes a uniquely personalized approach and is highly committed to the job at hand. The results of my case proved that.
