Welcome to my AVVO site.  I am a veteran attorney - practicing 34 years now!  Most of those years I have been a sole practitioner.  Since the world changed with COVID, so has the family practice.  Many of our court appearances are now virtual and I have learned how technology can make this process easier for clients.  Although a courthouse has been my "home away from home" for many years, that is not true for most clients so staying out of the physical courthouse is actually good for the client.  The practice has become somewhat more economical as there is no longer long waits for a Judge or Court Personnel and the client is no longer a face in the crowd but gets individualized attention from the courts.

NOW OFFERING unbundled services and Legal Coaching.  If you can't afford a full retainer, I can help by either coaching you through it or doing limited paperwork for you.  Call me to see whether this will work for you. .  I look forward to being in your corner.

Maureen review
My experience with Maureen was very good. She was professional, thorough, and addressed all of my concerns with my divorce. Maureen was always available to answer my questions along the way and she always got back to me if we didn’t connect immediately. I was satisfied with her services and I was pleased with our outcome.

Phenomenal family attorney!
Maureen is AMAZING! Not only did she win our case, but she was very empathetic and personable. She is professional, respectable and caring. I was recommended to her by my sister (who's case she also won) and my husband and I could not be happier with our decision! She is affordable and understanding. If you are looking for an amazing family lawyer that will go above and beyond Maureen is for you! I am forever grateful for the services provided. She truly changed our lives!

Excellent Attorney
When my ex refused to use a mediator for our divorce, I realized I was in for a long drawn out process and that I needed to find an attorney who knew the law inside and out, would fight for my children and me, but also see me as a person and not just another file. Attorney Donahue came recommend by word of mouth, and I knew as soon as I met with her that she was just what I wanted and needed in an attorney. She was sensitive yet forthcoming with me. If I was struggling with the drawn out divorce and threat of trial, Maureen was clear and confident, and advocated for the best interests of myself and my kids. She explained processes, possible outcomes, and possesses a great legal knowledge and confidence. She makes you a priority and is in it to win. Whether in court or when negotiating the terms with my ex and his attorney, Maureen was was quick with detailed knowledge of the case, and relentless with advocating for me. I would recommend her hands down.

Wonderful Family Court Lawyer
Maureen came highly recommended as a family court attorney. She was honest, knowledgeble, and helped me through a stressful court process. She made herself available to answer all of our questions, gave thoughtful advice based on her experience, and in the end we got an outcome that was truly in the best interest of my children. It has been almost 3 months since our last court date and my family is happy and healing thanks to the help we received from Maureen.

Maureen Donahue
My Sister was served "SHOCK" divorce papers and with our back's against the wall, we had a consultation with Maureen. She is well versed in Divorce law and provided excellent advice. She listened and remained calm providing strong points to consider in a contentious Divorce. We found Maureen to be extremely helpful and not self serving like other Attorneys we had spoken with, trying hard to get our business, with their interest first. We would highly recommend Maureen's services. She is strong, well aware of divorce laws and the process of Divorce and does not charge exorbitant fees.

Happily divorced
I brought my case to Maureen when my divorce was going nowhere in negotiations. I felt extremely comfortable with her. She asked a lot of questions, wrote a lot of notes, followed up on every call and email quickly. Told me what to expect and gave me great advice that ultimately gave me the ammunition to get what I wanted and end my marriage. She is a fighter, in a non abrasive way. It was the best money I've ever spent@

Lawyers, Guns and Money....(an old Warren Zevon song)
The title says it all. Going back over 35 years now I've always known that if I had all three of the above there wasn't any problem that couldn't be solved. I met Maureen back in 2001, shortly after I moved to Ct. She has been my attorney ever since. She has also always been there when a family member or friend needed an attorney. Maureen is a BARRACUDA at "family law" and has an uncanny knack for making minor criminal cases "go away". I have attorneys in all the places I visit with any regularity....New York, DC, Virginia, Maryland, Florida and Alabama. But here in Ct it's REAL SIMPLE....BETTER CALL MAUREEN. Thank you Maureen for all you've done for me and friends and family I've sent you.

Maureen Donhue's your gal!
Maureen Donahue was my atty for my divorce - recommended to me by someone else whom she had represented.. I was very naive on the subject in a complex situation. Her VERY caring and knowledgable guidance helped me navigate the stormy emotional waters of it to an equitable and fair judgement. She doesn't chase ambulances. Her work ethic is pristine and her rate reasonable considering the outcome: She wins. On the other hand - if you want her to be a tiger - well she can be all of that too. If you're looking for someone you will come to love and trust, and call friend after, Maureen is the one you want to call. She does all of it - soup to nuts not just divorce. Don't call anyone else - she's the BEST.

Extremely Satisfied Divorce Client
Attorney Donahue represented me in a very contentious and drawn out divorce perpetuated by my former spouse and her two different attorneys. Attorney Donahue's competence during several weeks of trial was evident from the start. In addition to her courtroom abilities, the fact that her rates were reasonable compared to other lawyers I interviewed, her retainer agreement allowed for a flexible payment plan which was very helpful during this high stress period.

Over charges- bad advice- totally bad lawyer. Puts single moms with little kids in a position to pay excessive fees by giving poor advice. Shame on this woman, who should be advocating for other women. Greed .
Response from Maureen Donahue September 20, 2021
I am very sorry to see this comment and I would love to address this directly with the individual involved. My practice, since its inception, has always been client service centered. Unlike many other lawyers, I frequently work on limited dollar retainers and payment plans. Lawyer fees are mostly based upon time spent. Our time is our tool pack. I frequently agree to do pro bono or free work, as most lawyers, in the appropriate situation. But if you agreed to hire me, used my time and don't pay me - well, I don't know how you sleep at night. I have to pay the grocer, too - if you agree to pay me, I really need you to do that. My goal in practice has always been to assist all clients - single moms AND dads - and to advocate fully for the client within the bounds of the law. I work hard at those obligations. Sometimes the lawyer client relationship is not a good fit. This is why I usually do free consultations - to get a flavor of that. Many times I have suggested to a client that there are many other competent lawyers out there and maybe they should second opinion my advice. I welcome that. The client has to have confidence in the advice they receive. Sometimes my advice is not what the client wants to hear - but that's why you hire a lawyer - and you are always free to take it or leave it. That's your choice. Since this was posted, I have wracked my brain to try to figure out how I fell short to someone. To the extent that this person actually hired me, signed a contract for payment, received my services and now disputes my billing, this is not the forum to do that and I welcome a one-on-one discussion. There is also a mediation program with The Connecticut Bar Association if that would feel better for you. To the extent that they did not hire me, shame on them for trying to negatively impact my business.
