Hello
Welcome to my AVVO site. I am a veteran attorney - practicing 34 years now! Most of those years I have been a sole practitioner. Since the world changed with COVID, so has the family practice. Many of our court appearances are now virtual and I have learned how technology can make this process easier for clients. Although a courthouse has been my "home away from home" for many years, that is not true for most clients so staying out of the physical courthouse is actually good for the client. The practice has become somewhat more economical as there is no longer long waits for a Judge or Court Personnel and the client is no longer a face in the crowd but gets individualized attention from the courts.
NOW OFFERING unbundled services and Legal Coaching. If you can't afford a full retainer, I can help by either coaching you through it or doing limited paperwork for you. Call me to see whether this will work for you. . I look forward to being in your corner.

Pleasurable to work with
Maureen is knowledgeable and dedicated. I felt very informed throughout, which made me very comfortable. Worth the investment, I'm glad to have her in my corner!

Maureen review
My experience with Maureen was very good. She was professional, thorough, and addressed all of my concerns with my divorce. Maureen was always available to answer my questions along the way and she always got back to me if we didn’t connect immediately. I was satisfied with her services and I was p...

Beware
Over charges- bad advice- totally bad lawyer. Puts single moms with little kids in a position to pay excessive fees by giving poor advice. Shame on this woman, who should be advocating for other women. Greed .
I am very sorry to see this comment and I would love to address this directly with the individual involved. My practice, since its inception, has always been client service centered. Unlike many other lawyers, I frequently work on limited dollar retainers and payment plans. Lawyer fees are mostly based upon time spent. Our time is our tool pack. I frequently agree to do pro bono or free work, as most lawyers, in the appropriate situation. But if you agreed to hire me, used my time and don't pay me - well, I don't know how you sleep at night. I have to pay the grocer, too - if you agree to pay me, I really need you to do that. My goal in practice has always been to assist all clients - single moms AND dads - and to advocate fully for the client within the bounds of the law. I work hard at those obligations. Sometimes the lawyer client relationship is not a good fit. This is why I usually do free consultations - to get a flavor of that. Many times I have suggested to a client that there are many other competent lawyers out there and maybe they should second opinion my advice. I welcome that. The client has to have confidence in the advice they receive. Sometimes my advice is not what the client wants to hear - but that's why you hire a lawyer - and you are always free to take it or leave it. That's your choice. Since this was posted, I have wracked my brain to try to figure out how I fell short to someone. To the extent that this person actually hired me, signed a contract for payment, received my services and now disputes my billing, this is not the forum to do that and I welcome a one-on-one discussion. There is also a mediation program with The Connecticut Bar Association if that would feel better for you. To the extent that they did not hire me, shame on them for trying to negatively impact my business.

Phenomenal family attorney!
Maureen is AMAZING! Not only did she win our case, but she was very empathetic and personable. She is professional, respectable and caring. I was recommended to her by my sister (who's case she also won) and my husband and I could not be happier with our decision! She is affordable and understanding....

Excellent Attorney
When my ex refused to use a mediator for our divorce, I realized I was in for a long drawn out process and that I needed to find an attorney who knew the law inside and out, would fight for my children and me, but also see me as a person and not just another file. Attorney Donahue came recommend by w...
