I feel strongly about bringing civility back to the legal profession. I believe in respectful and goal oriented negotiations and have therefore elected to focus my practice on mediation and collaborative law. I have almost 40 years of experience as a family law attorney and have been an active mediator and collaborative attorney for over 23 years. I see the positive results of a mediation and collaborative divorces versus the negative ones in the litigated divorce, reminding me of the benefits to the spouses and children that mediation and collaboration provides.
In 1984, I graduated from the Ohio Northern University School of Law; I received my undergraduate college degree in English from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, New York. I volunteer as a Special Master for Matrimonial Matters in Hartford, New Britain, and Middletown courts as well as the Regional Custody Trial Docket in Middletown. I am a founding member and co-chair of the Central Connecticut Collaborative Family Law Group and founding member of the Collaborative Divorce Lawyers Association; a member of the Collaborative Divorce team of Connecticut, a member of the Connecticut Council for Non Adversarial Divorce, a member of the Connecticut Bar Associations and the International Academy of Collaborative Practitioners I also serve as a guest speaker for Collaborative Training and have served as an instructor for The People’s Law School. I am a life-time James Cooper Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation. In 2023 I was named to Ct Super Lawyers.
Let me help you and your family in the resolution of your disputes in a fair, equitable, private, cost efficient manner that will preserve the dignity of both parties and serve the best interests of all, particularly the children.

Great Client Advocate
I was referred to Laurie by another attorney after my ex-wife withdrew from mediation. I found her to be a perfect fit me. She reads knows her business, reads people well, and is an excellent communicator that knows when to press issues and when to back off. These skills helped resolve a number of...
"I endorse this lawyer. Laurie is extremely intelligent, hard-working lawyer who is dedicated to her clients. She is passionate about representing her clients and goes the extra measure to ensure that her clients are well represented. As a pension attorney, I work with many family law attorneys and Laurie is in the very top tier and a pleasure to work with. She understands that retirement benefits are an extremely valuable marital asset and carefully drafts the separation agreement to properly divide these assets, addressing pre and post retirement death benefits, early retirement subsidies, COLAs and investment gains/losses. She asks good questions to understand plan provisions, pays attention to detail and protects her clients. I have tremendous respect for Laurie and have referred clients to her with glowing references."
"I would endorse Laurie without reservation. I have known her for a number of years and have just completed a complicated and lengthy family case with her. She combines a deep understanding of the law with compassion for her clients. She knows when to be assertive and when to take a step back. I find that an admirable trait (which unfortunately is lacking in many attorneys) which serves her clients well. She is also very honest and hardworking."
