Colin Patrick Mahon

I am a Board Certified Workers' Compensation Specialist who is admitted to practice in both the Connecticut state and federal courts.  I am also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.  I also regularly appear before adminstrative agencies such as the Social Security Administration and the Connecticut Workers' Compensation Commission.  

I take a compassionate approach to client representation.  I listen carefully to my clients and I am responsive to their needs.  I understand that each person's case is unique and I take the time to learn about both the person and his or her case.  It is vitally important to me to return phone calls promptly and to answer any questions that the client may have.  I keep the lines of communication open.  I realize that navigating the often confusing and difficult legal terrain can be hard, and I strive to make that process easier and less stressful for my clients.

In 2016, I was named a Board Certified Workers' Compensation Specialist by the Connecticut Bar Association. In order to become a Board Certified Specialist, I must focus at least 25% of my practice in the area of workers' compensation and go through a rigorous screening process that includes peer review, participation in a minimum number of continuing legal education classes in the area of workers' compensation and ethics, and passage of a one day examination. There are only a very small number of Board Certified Workers' Compensation specialists in Connecticut, and this designation places me in a truly unique and select group of attorneys in the workers' compensation bar.

I have strong research and writing skills, having written numerous articles for several different publications.  I also serve as an editor and contributor for the Connecticut Bar Association's quarterly jounal for workers' compensation.  I have contributed to several appellate court briefs in cases that have been argued at both the Connecticut Appellate and Supreme Courts.

I am active in the local community.  In the past, I have served on the board of directors for the Meriden Domestic Violence Shelter.  I have been a member of the Meriden Rotary Club since 2008 and I currently serve as the New Generations chairman.  I have also served on the board of directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Meriden since 2012.

I reside in West Hartford, Connecticut with my wife and two children.
