HELPING FAMILIES PROTECT WHAT MATTERS MOST.

Attorney Steven L. Rubin has been in training for his dream job, to be an attorney, since he was 5 years old.  His trustworthy, shoot-from-the-hip, “pull no punches”approach is appreciated by clients.   Most of his passion stems from the fact that Steve knows what it’s like to sit on the other side of the desk.

While Steve was in law school, his mother was diagnosed with ALS and given 6 months to a year to live.  He was thrust into a number of roles that his clients often find themselves in —caregiver, advocate, provider, and concerned loved one.

While his mom lost her battle to ALS, Steve vowed never to give up the fight.  He finished Widener School of Law and he has dedicated his career to helping his clients deal with tough issues -- such as medical malpractice, personal injury, death, incapacity, disability, special needs, social security, asset protection and taxes – and provide that assistance in the best and least stressful way possible.

Attorney Rubin was born in New Haven and has been a life-long Connecticut resident.  He graduated from Cheshire High School, and the University of Connecticut (UCONN) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.  While attending the University of Connecticut, Attorney Rubin was a member of the governing counsel for the Housing Board of Directors and the vice president of the Jewish Student Association.  He graduated UCONN a member of Phi Alpha Phi -- the national political science honor society.

Attorney Rubin then attended Widener University School of Law in Pennsylvania.  While attending Widener, he was a member of the Trial Advocacy Honor Society and participated in numerous Moot Court arguments.  He was also a founding member of the Animal Rights Legal Society and Treasurer of the Environmental Law and Policy Society, involvements that put into action his values and ideals.

Attorney Rubin has passed the Bar in Connecticut, New York, and Florida.  He is a member of the of organizations that reflect his career directions and active participation: Connecticut Bar Association; the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association; the New York Bar Association; the Florida Bar Association; the Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers; the Florida Bar Association Young Lawyers Division; the New York Bar Association Young Lawyers Division; New Haven Bar Association, New Haven Bar Association Young Lawyers; New Haven Bar Association Public Service Committee; the New Haven Bar Association Trusts and Estates Committee; Court Relations Committee; and a member of American Bar Association.

Attorney Rubin volunteers his free time at the Veterans Legal Clinic, providing free advice to veterans who otherwise could not afford legal representation.  When not working, Steven enjoys reading books, watching and attending sporting events, and spending time with his dog and family.  He is a fundraiser for the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association, and the American Cancer Society.  Attorney Rubin also volunteers his time at soup kitchens and other philanthropic activities.

Fantastic Attorney
When coordinating my work as a CFP® with previous attorneys, it seemed non-responsiveness and blanket answers were the norm. Attorney Rubin has always been prompt, concise, and consistent when coordinating work together. Would highly recommend him for any financial professional who need to co-op on with a qualfied estate planning attorney.

THE BEST
All of our families needs and considerations are taken care of before we actually know we have to take care of a need. Attorney Rubin is smart charming and passionate about his work. The way he has assisted me on a personal level I will never forget. I highly recommend Attorney Rubin for all legal matters.

He went the extra mile
We had used Steve for Elder law services and again for the closing on our new condo. Steve and his staff bent over backwards and jumped through hoops to be sure that our closing came off on time. We were sailing for Europe within days of the scheduled closing, Steve and his staff persevered to get the title company to cooperate and to arrange with the seller's attorney for this to happen in a timely manner. Steve works long hours and really pulls hard for his clients. We have also been extremely happy with the elder law assistance he has also provided for us

An all star | Effective, dedicated, kind
Steven's knowledge of the intricacies of elder care law was proven to me not once, but twice...simultaneously. He handled the affairs of my mother and mother-in-law concurrently with a remarkable level of adroitness. Both cases posed unusual circumstances requiring careful evaluation and strategic planning. Steven handled each case with meticulous attention to detail. He remained prepared and ever ready throughout the process, several times going beyond the call of duty. We were reassured by Steven’s skill and most certainly astonished by his kindness and compassion.

Excellent and Dedicated
Throughout my 14 year career as a social worker, I had yet to find an attorney I trusted completely to recommend to my patients, until I met attorney Steven Rubin. He has proven to be compassionate, trust worthy and extremely knowledgeable. Whether the person has a terminal illness like ALS or a life long condition such as muscular dystrophy, he has consistently been able to meet their very difficult and complex needs. I highly recommend attorney Steven Rubin.

Social Worker at The ALS Association CT Chapter
I originally consulted with Steven in regards to helping people who are living with ALS - with care, insurance, and financial planning. Since that initial meeting, Steven has provided consultations for many people living with this rare disease to help them plan for their futures and the future of their families. Several families have hired him following their consultations. Steven treats every family with respect and understanding, and truly meets them 'where they are' in terms of these difficult discussions and plans. I HIGHLY recommend his services for elder law and disability and special needs. We're so thankful we found him!

My calm, knowledgeable, expert attorney
My cousin asked me to be power of attorney, trustee and executor of her estate. What should have been a fairly easy thing to do because her wishes were clearly written, turned into my worst nightmare because of family members who wanted to dispute all of her wishes and her trust. They dragged us to court several times and Steve knew what he was doing each time! If it wasn't for Steve's help, knowledge and ability to keep me calm through it all, I don't know what I would have done! He knew exactly what the law states and what they could and couldn't get away with. Through Steven's expertise we won!

Life Care Planning Client
I came to Steve Rubin for some estate planning needs. He was very helpful and took his time to explain to me what all my options were. I was very nervous about my situation when I first came into the office, but by the time I was done with the process - I felt very comfortable and had great peace of mind. I would recommend his services to anybody without hesitation.

An Amazing Lawyer Who Offers A+ Advice
Attorney Steven Rubin is a lawyer you can trust. He is dependable and offers advice to you that is relative to your situation. He humbles himself as he puts himself in your shoes to provide the best outcome. He is caring and understanding. I would recommend him to anyone!

So helpful!
Mr. Rubin helped me create a will and trust to ensure that everything would be taken care of in the unfortunate chance something bad happened to me. I don't have much legal background and he helped me understand everything in terms that were simple enough but didn't make me feel dumb. He was easy to work with and very professional.

Would never use him again
My parents hired Attorney Rubin to help with the closing of their house. It took over 4 months! My mother had to do most of the work. They are terrible at communicating what is going on. They weren't very nice to my parents either. And they practice Elder Law?!
