Tianyi Zhang

As a native Mandarin speaker and a first-generation immigrant, I spent my childhood in Scotland and Shanghai and went to high school in Vancouver and Orange County. With each new location came new opportunities to meet people from diverse backgrounds, tackle unique challenges, and immerse myself in different ways of life. This upbringing instilled a strong sense of adaptability, resilience, and positivity in me, enabling me to work with individuals from all walks of life.

In my free time, I serve as a moderator and a peer counselor on a mental health peer support platform. I also enjoy lifting and cooking with my partner, as well as long walks with our adopted pitbull, Jack, and our senior mastiff, Grymauch.

Education
I attended Purdue University, majoring in finance, accounting, and management. During college, I participated in the Purdue Student Government as a student justice.

After college, I attended the University of Colorado Law School on a majority tuition scholarship. In law school, I gained court experience by working at the Denver District Attorney’s Office and participating in Moot Court competitions. I have also completed three externships with four judges from the Colorado Court of Appeals, the Colorado 2nd Judicial District District Court, and the Colorado 17th Judicial District District Court. During these judicial externships, I worked on both civil and criminal cases, advancing my legal research and writing skills. After law school, I briefly worked in family law, where I advised clients on divorce, custody, and other family law issues.

Legal Strategy
One of my greatest strengths is my ability to emphasize and to care deeply. I chose criminal law because I want to make a long-lasting and positive impact on your life when you need the most legal support. As a first-generation immigrant, I understand how difficult it is to comprehend legal jargon and to deal with administrative hurtles. But you are not alone, as I will be by your side every step of the way. I will help you navigate this difficult process by providing you with excellent customer service and legal advocacy. I am invested in your future, your family, your hopes, and your dreams, and I will do everything I can to protect you and your rights.
