Mary T Bergamini

I do not recommend Mary Bergamini as a Guardian ad Litem. Throughout my case, I provided extensive documentation regarding my children’s safety concerns, including letters from multiple individuals who have known both parents for years, screenshots of communications, and evidence describing patter...ns of abusive and concerning behavior. Despite receiving these materials, she later confirmed she had not reviewed them fully before testifying in court. Shortly afterward, my child disclosed abuse, which resulted in an emergency room visit and formal investigations by DCF and local authorities. Those investigations substantiated abuse concerns. Even then, her recommendation remained 50/50 custody with only minimal intervention suggested. At no point did I feel that my children’s safety concerns were taken seriously or thoroughly evaluated. I consistently experienced her as dismissive of documented evidence and aligned with one side rather than acting as a neutral advocate for the children’s best interests. Given the seriousness of a GAL’s role, families deserve someone who fully reviews evidence, listens carefully, and prioritizes child safety above all else. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

Atty Bergamini was involved in my divorce proceeding. When she did her house visit, the first thing she noticed was that my son who was like 10 at the time had stuffed animals- which in her opinion, he was too old to have. She is only concerned about the money she makes for herself. No compassion for... the child. She is not helpful for either side and damaging to the emotional well being of children. If she is good at what she does why has no one written to commend her abilities in all the years she has been serving in this capacity.

I was warned not to use Mary by a male colleague who used her for his divorce. He said that she loves men and will always be biased towards the male party. She has exemplified everything he said. She is not at all interested in what’s best for the children, rather only interest in doing what benefits... my ex. His motives are to hurt me and he is using my children as pawns and she is allowing him to do so. She is a pathetic excuse for a lawyer and an advocate for children. I would not recommend her to anyone unless you are a male.
