April R. Merchant

April R. Merchant recently joined our team, bringing over 25 years of legal experience to our firm in trust and estate planning, probate administration and litigation, elder law, finance, taxes, and real estate. April is licensed to practice before the courts of the State of Connecticut, the United States District Court, and admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. She is a member of the Estates and Probate, Elder Law, Professional Discipline and Tax Sections of the Connecticut Bar Association. April is also a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.

April received her law degree from Suffolk University Law School where she received the Trustee Academic Scholarship and a merit scholarship awarded for outstanding academic achievement. Upon completion of her law degree, she joined The New Hampshire Technical Institute as an adjunct professor, where she taught real estate law to paralegals. April graduated with honors from New Hampshire Technical Institute with an associate in paralegal studies, and Southern New Hampshire University with a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance with a minor in international business.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and her pets Raven and Lily, photography, reading and competitive ballroom dancing.

Raven aka “Raven Rukus” enjoys all things play especially when they included stuffed toys. He is loyal and protective of his home and family. He takes hunting and destroying potential threats very seriously and has been known to break through window screens to pursue any perceived threat. When he is not playing or assisting with office work and chores, you can find him perched at the highest point surveying his territory.

Lily aka “Ghost” was rescued as a kitten and will go completely unseen for days if there is a stranger in the home. Thus, her nickname “ghost.” She has a larger-than-life personality and a coat as soft as silk. She loves to play fetch with her favorite stuffed fish and cuddle with her humans.
