Divorce and Separation 50%

All of the concerns of a family come to bear in a divorce or legal separation including custody, a parenting plan, support and a division of the assets and debts. I offer a variety of options to reach a conslusion to your case including collaborative negotation and mediation, as well as being a skilled litigator practicing in the courts for 18 years. Whatever option you choose to resolve your case you can be assured I will guide you through the entire process from intial cosult to judgment.

Mediation 20%

Mediation to resolve family disputes, whether it be divorce, custody or support is an alternative that can be private, and less costly. More importantly, it leaves the important decisions in the hands of the parties who with my guidance working as a neutral mediator, work through the various issues to reach a negotiated conculsion without the need of involving the court. It reduces the uncertainty of litigation while still providing the family with a comprehensive plan for their future.

Child Custody 10%

I work with clients to develope a parenting plan as well as to determine custodial matters through litigation, mediation and collaborative practice. If a change must be made I also offer the same options post judgment. Not every plan fits everyone's neeeds. We must balance the needs of often two working parents with the complicated schedules of active children into a plan that supports the entire family and ensures that teh children grow and develope healthy and happy.

Alimony 5%

I work with clients to develope a financial plan which meets their needs including the determination of support as well as enforcing the payment of the support post judgment. The consideration of alimony is often an important part of the financial plan. It can be a means to substantially reduce the overall tax liablities, to allow the marital home to be retained and when balanced with the overall financial plan can lead to a new start for teh entire family.

Child Support 5%

I work with clients to develope a financial plan which meets their needs including the determination of child support as well as medical insurance, payment for unreimbursed medical expenses, daycare and children expenses as well as enforcing the support post judgment. In Connecticut child support must also consider payment for post secondary education and if not considered, you may lose any right to make a claim against the other parent for a contribution to this very costly obligation.

Domestic Violence 5%

Whether it leads to divorce or whether you are not married, often a sensitive and private handling of domestic violence will impact not only our life, but also the lives of your children. I work with clients some of which are in the criminal court system or the juvenile court while others are also involved in the civil court system. You will need guidance whether as an acused or as a victim to ensure that the courts work for you and you claim the maximum beneficial impact for a safe future.

Marriage and Prenuptials 5%

A prenuptial agreement can make planning for the future that much more secure. It is particularly important when marrying either later in life or when it is not your first marraige and you need plans to protect your entire family. In our complex interfamily relationships it can be as important as estate planning.

Outstanding and Professional Representation

"Thank you Donna. I am enjoying my new life immensely! Financial freedom is wonderful. I can't thank you [Donna] enough for the guidance, insight, and of course the alimony! I knew from our first meeting that I had made the right decision in hiring you. I'm a stronger, smarter woman because of you. T...here's no way I could have made it through this process on my own."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
