I was born on May 8, 1959. Before attending law school, I ran ski lifts, picked apples, painted houses, taught skiing, and worked as an adolescent and family counselor for a community action agency. I eventually went on to study law, graduating from Vermont Law School, summa cum laude (1st in my class) in 1990.
After law school, I served as a law clerk at the Vermont Supreme Court. I entered private practice with a Burlington law firm in 1991, concentrating in professional malpractice cases, personal injury, and general litigation. In 1998, I decided to open my own solo practice, 100% dedicated to helping injured Vermonters, visitors, and their families in serious personal injury and wrongful death cases.
I am board-certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
In 2006, I was honored to be among 50 trial attorneys from around the United States selected to attend the intensive 22-day Trial Lawyers College, in Wyoming, founded by the legendary trial lawyer, Gerry Spence. In 2010, I served on the Faculty of the College.
Martindale-Hubbell, the oldest and perhaps most highly-recognized independent attorney review and rating service in the United States, has awarded me its highest rating, "AV - Preeminent."
From 2007 through 2014, I have been chosen by my peers to be included as a "Super Lawyer" in New England Super Lawyers Magazine.
From 2010 to 2011, I served as President of the Vermont Association for Justice (VTAJ). I am also a proud member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), and serve on the Board of Governors of the Association.
Many lawyers call themselves "litigators." But to a large degree, "litigation" consists of throwing lots of paper at the other side, but very rarely if ever taking a case to trial. I am proud to be a trial lawyer. I believe that when an attorney is ready and able to take a case to trial, the client is much more likely to get justice.
Some personal injury lawyers have high-volume practices, advertising heavily on high-cost radio and TV ad campaigns. Some of these "settlement mills" take on hundreds of new cases each year, hoping to quickly settle as many cases as possible. I do not operate that way. I run a small, client-centered law practice, focusing on the individualized needs of a small number of clients. I advertise minimally, and take on only a few new cases each year. I limit the cases I handle to those involving serious, life-changing personal injuries, such as permanent back and neck injuries, fractures, burns, paralysis, disfigurement, or death.
By keeping my overhead and case-volume low, I am able to handle each case personally from start to finish. I never pawn my clients off on a junior associate or paralegal. I work closely with each of my clients, to learn about their lives and to discover and tell the story behind their cases.

Superb attorney
I was injured on my motorcycle in a hit and run. Offer from my insurance company was completely inappropriate so it was time to lawyer up. Found Todd's ad in the phone book and saw that his web site was very professional. Initial meeting with Todd found him to be genuinely concerned for me as well...
"I highly endorse this lawyer. Todd is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced personal injury attorneys in Vermont. He is also willing to share his wisdom with other Vermont attorneys."
"Todd is a no-holds-barred-turn-over-every-stone PLAINTIFFS' lawyer. He delves deeply into each case, works hard, provides the resources necessary to get the job done and gets the law right. He has earned the respect of the insurance companies because they know he won't quit. He takes the time to fully understand his clients and thus can tell their story, when the time comes, in a persuasive and effective manner. Top flight."
"Todd is an outstanding attorney that I know through the Trial Lawyers College. He is highly skilled and committed to his clients. I endorse this lawyer."
"After spending time with and listening to Todd at American Association for Justice events, it is obvious that Todd has a thorough understanding and knowledge of jury decision making and what it takes to be a successful trial lawyer. I endorse this lawyer."
"I endorse this lawyer. Todd is a fellow graduate and student from Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyers College and the lawyers who graduate from that college are exceptional to be invited to attend and even more exceptional after having graduated."
"I highly endorse this lawyer's work. Todd Schlossberg is a dedicated servant of ordinary people, who have suffered pain and injury caused through no fault of their own. His shear dedication to his clients and practice holds him high above his peers. If you hire Todd, you will have someone who will care about you as a person, while giving you expert legal assistance."
"Todd is well respected in the legal community and puts all his heart into helping his clients. He is smart and works extremely hard for his clients. Todd is recognized by fellow lawyers for his dogged dedication to his clients."
"I endorse this lawyer's work. Todd is a fellow graduate of Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyers College. It is an elite group of attorneys with specialized training in all aspect of trial preparation and trial itself. I have great respect for Todd. He is an especially talented attorney and cares deeply for his clients. You could not be in better hands."
"Todd is a great lawyer who I would trust with my own legal matters. He is attentive, smart and has true compassion for his client's needs. He is a graduate of the Trial Lawyers College and I have watched his true committment to his clients' cases."
"Todd's work and contribution to the legal community is well known in Vermont. He is an accomplished advocate and tireless worker for his clients."
"I endorse this lawyer's work. Todd is never willing to let things go -- if something is not right, he's declared war. He is a true warrior who prepares every case for trial. Insurers know him and consequently they know that he will not walk away from truth and will not sell out his client, ever; the insurer must pay through full settlement or become forced to pay by jury verdict. Todd is a most compassionate advocate for his clients, visits clients, is angered by injustices. He is highly respected by his peers. Every lawyer in Vermont knows Todd is the real deal. I will periodically seek his ideas and insights, because of his trial experience and because of his smarts and fearlessness; and he always responds with substantial generosity. Todd is a graduate of a very special Trial Lawyers College founded by Gerry Spence, a renowned and successful trial lawyer who has never lost a criminal case and has not lost a civil jury trial for more than 3 decades. I highly recommend Todd."
