Al Dean is a civil litigation attorney with BarrSternberg, based in Bennington, Vermont. Dean draws from many areas of legal experience, and most recently clerked for the Honorable Kathy C. Qasim in New Jersey, where he primarily mediated and researched family law matters, including matrimonial law, child support and custody, juvenile delinquency, and domestic violence. Prior to clerking for Judge Qasim, Dean clerked for the Rutland City Attorney’s Office. In 2017, he provided legal aid to clients throughout the Northeast, offering counsel on landlord-tenant, child custody and support, adoption, and termination of parental rights, as well as Department of Veteran Affairs appeals. In law school, Dean served as the Senior Managing Editor of the Vermont Law Review and an active member of the National Moot Court Team. He taught workshops for legal writing and constitutional law. At BarrSternberg, Dean’s practice areas include family law and personal injury litigation. Dean was admitted to the New York State Bar Association in 2017 and the Vermont Bar Association in 2018. He graduated with honors from Vermont Law School in 2017 and earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Stony Brook University in 2014.
