Advocated for me and accomplished everything that I needed him to.

Highly recommend. I needed someone to stand up and advocate for me when I was being threatened and taken advantage of. He provided a comprehensive free consult and was positive and energetic in defending me. After speaking with other lawyers, he was the first who believed me and supported my cause. A...s a good lawyer should, he took the initiative, taking care of all that was required and only contacting me when necessary. It was peace of mind, knowing my case was being handled while I didn’t have time, protecting me, and I felt confident in his abilities. He is a lawyer who is willing to fight for his client, not conservative and simply choosing the least risky option. I needed to walk away from a situation with everything concluded and he accomplished that. He even got some of the money I had lost back. I was able to start fresh because of his efforts. I cannot recommend his professional acumen enough.

James Shepard tirelessly advocated for me as my divorce lawyer

James was my lawyer in a very contentious divorce, where I had moved to the other side of the country while my now ex-wife stayed in New Hampshire. I am in the military, which complicated things greatly - James did the necessary research, and did all things possible to protect me from being "taken t...o the cleaners" by a very bitter and emotional woman. He kept me well informed every step of the way. Rather than act like the one with all the answers because of his legal knowledge, he worked with me, as my adviser and teammate. With seeming ease, he combined professionalism as a lawyer with friendly understanding and empathy. At the end of the year-long battle to come to a joint stipulation and avoid our case being decided in court, I came to regard James as my friend as much as my very good lawyer.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education

  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
