TERRIBLE

She is ONLY in it for the MONEY. As soon as your initial retainer is used up you will stop mailing you invoices until you owe her thousands of dollars. The only thing she asks for in court it's for payment. So don't even waste your time telling her your side of the story she doesn't care she just wan...ts to get paid.

Nice person, but not a good lawyer.

Courtney represented us for a few years and this review summarizes her skills as an attorney (this is obviously only from one perspective) Pros: Firstly, she is very nice and presentable (in appearance) inside and out of the courtroom. She is pleasant and will take the time to explain things i...f you ask questions. However, Courtney is absolutely not a "courtroom lawyer", and frequently made mistakes both inside and outside of court. Cons: She is timid, quiet, and slow to object in front of the judge. There is no aggression or even assertiveness in her persona; she will allow the opposing party to make their statements without ever countering back (which was both frustrating and reflected negatively on us later in court). Another troubling aspect of Courtney (that we did not realize until too late because she is not upfront about it in the beginning) is that she is not a full-time lawyer, but rather only part-time. This was unhelpful as often consultation was required in the afternoon which would have costed much more money as it was her "after hours". This also put in perspective of why she was forgetting papers and in general not putting in the effort you would expect of someone who was full-time. One thing that made us very nervous was that she loses papers quite often, and even forgot papers at home the morning of a court date (on multiple occasions). Also, on one occasion, she refused to take some documents into the courtroom that we were willing to provide, which had information on them pertinent to the case. This information was provided to her verbally a day beforehand, however, for some reason, she felt confident that she did not need a bulleted list in her hands for court. She was proven false when asked directly by the judge a few questions that could have been answered if she had the papers. Also, this indicated that she did not really listen or even write down the information that was provided verbally beforehand. On a few other occasions in court, she had proven that she didn't listen to us beforehand, when she could not answer questions or rebuke statements made by the opposing party. This astonished us and made us wonder if she was so timid in court because she was never really retaining the information that we would provide beforehand, which would have allowed her to swiftly put down the opposition. In summary, Courtney appears to be the exact opposite of what you would want in a lawyer: someone who would fight for you. Instead, Courtney was almost not present in terms of her effort inside and outside of court. Though she is a nice person, she doesn't have that fire in her to go the extra mile (or even the regular mile, sadly). It is my humble opinion that if you have a chance to win your case, it will be on the case's merits, not on the skills (or lack thereof) of Courtney's lawyering abilities. I was unsure of posting this review at first, as it may seem harsh, however, it is the truth, and it would be unfortunate for another family to choose Courtney as their attorney and realize all of this when it's too late. For the sake of the future children or families that she may attempt to help, I pray that she was just having a bad couple of years when we hired her, and that her abilities may improve in the future. I hope this review helps you.
