I am a life long resident of Rhode Island. After graduating from the University of Rhode Island, I received my law degree from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts. While I attended law school I was selected to serve an internship with the United States Department of Justice, United States Attorney for the First Circuit, District of Rhode Island, as well as an internship at the Rhode Island Department of the Attorney General. Additionally, I was a law clerk at Corcoran, Peckham & Hayes, one of the oldest and most prestigious law firms in Newport County. Whilst in law school I volunteered at the Veterans Legal Service Project, Administering legal aid to low income veterans.
I was a general partner at Caley & Euler, LLC until I joined the Family Law Center of Rhode Island.
In 2010, I was the founding partner of Pelletier, Clarke & Caley, LLC.

Excellent attorney
Maria handled my divorce back in 2012. Not only is she incredibly informed, she listened to my desire to mediate and keep things as streamlined and uncomplicated as possible in a difficult situation. I was able to settle quickly with my former husband, and not make things adversarial or costly to e...

Maria Caley is the Best!
Maria Caley is a fantastic attorney and I have trusted her and her alone with all of my needs regarding family law. She has been my rock during some shaky times and I would recommend her to anyone, including a family member, who needs a lawyer they can count on. Maria is down to earth and ready to ...

A Trustworthy and Determined Fighter
Maria was my lawyer in a child custody and support case in 2012. From our first meeting she was extremely professional and went over all of my options. She championed my case and fought for me at every turn. Her accessibility, reliability, and determination were greatly appreciated. I couldn't have a...

Highly Recommended
Ms Caley is wonderful! She is a very competent, knowledgeable and diligent lawyer and went above and beyond the normal client/attorney affiliation. I would not hesitate to use her services again should the need arise and would highly recommend her.

Slow and judgemental.
Hung up on her after less than a minute as she could not understand the issue. If you have a complex issue, multi-state issue best to avoid attorneys based in RI as it is not a state that affects top legal talent.
When you took my call, you apologized for the background noise since you were picking your child up from school. It was difficult to hear you for the 90 seconds we were on the phone. I asked you if your current state took jurisdiction under the UCCJEA, whereupon you belligerently told me your current state does not automatically take jurisdiction. Yes, dear, we all know your state does not automatically take jurisdiction. If you did not hang up, my next question was, did you register your RI order so the clock could begin ticking in your current state so the 6-month requirement pursuant to the UCCJEA could begin to toll. If you did not register your RI order why not? Were you slow in comprehending the need to actually register the order in a timely fashion? I needed this information to continue our conversation. Good luck, have you considered the problem maybe you?
"I endorse this lawyer. Maria Caley has an excellent reputation in the practice area of Family Law. She is attentive and responsive to the needs and concerns of her clients. I would highly recommend her services."
"I endorse this lawyer. I worked with Maria on a challenging visitation / child support matter. She was always professional and courteous to work with, while being a strong advocate for her client. We both tried to guide our clients towards an agreement that was acceptable to both sides and were able to do so."
